Infographic: Li-ION vs. lead-acid forklift batteries - which is best for your operation?

Written by Bengt Kristiansson, 2019-06-19

The traditional lead-acid forklift battery is a tried-and-tested technology. However, Li-ION (lithium ion) batteries, which power your laptop, smartphone and maybe even your car, are now a viable energy solution for forklifts. But what advantages does this new technology offer?

For one thing, the regular downtime that lead-acid batteries need for changeovers or cleaning and maintenance aren't needed with Li-ION batteries. These batteries have a longer life, and can easily be opportunity charged for short periods, topping up their charge without the need to remove the battery from the truck.

They're also practically maintenance-free, and don't give off dangerous gases during charging, meaning you don't have to restrict charging to the charging room.

If you're wondering about what differences there are between these two technologies, we've looked at how they match up in some important areas. If you want to find out the advantages of Li-ION in more detail, scroll down and click the blue button below the infographic to get our free Li-ION guide.
