2018 is drawing to a close, and it's the time of year when we start looking back at everything that has happened in the last 12 months.
This year has seen a great deal of new articles on the Materials Handling Blog, and the launch of a number of new blogs in different countries — now, we're running blogs in Germany, Denmark, France, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
To mark the end of the year, here's a list of this year's five most-read blog posts.
5. How to choose the perfect forklift truck for your warehouse
This PDF guide, describing each type of forklift truck and what operations they're suited for, has always been widely read. This year, it was the fifth-most-read post on the blog.
4. 11 facts about forklift trucks you might not know
This was one of the very first posts ever published on the blog back in 2016. Clearly, the infographic showing some fun facts about forklift trucks is still popular.
3. Six ergonomic features you should look for on your next forklift truck
Another PDF guide — this one, highlighting some smart features which are beginning to appear on forklift trucks that can make materials handling safer and more efficient. What more could you ask for?
2. The 'dead man's switch' — is it really the best solution for order pickers?
Our Driver Presence Sensor (DPS) was nominated for an IFOY Award this year, in the 'Special Feature of the Year' category. Unfortunately, we didn't take the number one spot, and neither did this post describing the benefits of this simple safety solution — but second place isn't bad.
1. Loading and unloading goods: How to get it right in your warehouse
This year, the number one spot was obvious. This guide, which looks closely at logistics analysis and the effectiveness of different loading and unloading methods, got over 5 times as many views as the 'dead man's switch' post which took second place. Clearly, using expertise to analyse complex applications was a favourite topic this year.
